A Fiery Donation

Old hoses previously used by firefighters have found a new life—at Hoo Zoo and Dinosaur World in Shropshire.

The hoses were donated by Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service to provide the zoo’s lemurs with exciting enrichment opportunities.

Lemurs Love Their New Toys

“Our lemurs have been straight into it,” a zoo spokesperson said. “They’ve been exploring, climbing, and investigating their brand-new enrichment—a brilliant way to keep curious minds active and engaged.”

The zoo also thanked the fire crew for their support, adding that both keepers and lemurs were “very grateful.”

Meet the Zoo’s Lemurs

The Telford-based attraction is home to a variety of lemur species native to Madagascar, including endangered ring-tailed lemurs. Two ring-tailed babies were even born at the zoo earlier this year.

Thanks to the donated hoses, the lemurs now have a fun, safe way to stay active and curious—proving that sometimes, one team’s old tools can become another team’s favorite toys.
