β€œThis is the safest place I could think of to put them” πŸ’”

On a sunny Saturday morning in Morrisville, Pennsylvania, a resident noticed unusual activity at their local dog park. Inside the fenced area, six large puppies were running around aimlessly with no humans in sight.

Attached to the gate was a handwritten note with a heartbreaking confession.

β€œDear person who finds these dogs,” the note read. β€œI rescued them from an old lady who has too many dogs … This is the safest place I could think of to put them. I hope they find homes.”

The Good Samaritan contacted the Morrisville Borough Police Department (MBPD), who quickly responded to the dog park. Within minutes, the officers arrived to find the group of wandering puppies.

β€œUpon arrival, Morrisville Police observed six 50-60 pound dogs running freely in the Morrisville Dog Park,” MBPD reported in a press release. β€œThe police remained on scene while the Bucks County SPCA was en route.”

While waiting for the SPCA to arrive, the police reviewed the note and uncovered the heartbreaking truth about the puppies’ past.

β€œThese dogs were rescued from an owner who could not provide adequate care and were subsequently brought to the Morrisville Dog Park, where they would be discovered,” MBPD stated. β€œThe person who brought these dogs to the park attempted to keep them but was unable to due to their apartment’s rules. They believed the Morrisville Dog Park was the best solution for the dogs at the time.”

The police wished the rescuer had contacted them before abandoning the dogs at the park but were more concerned about the animals left at the original home.

β€œAt this time, the Morrisville Police Department is more concerned about the remaining animals who are in the care of the original owner,” MBPD wrote. β€œAlthough the MBPD does not condone the abandonment of any animals, there is a larger issue in this case that we want to address to ensure all these animals are safe.”

When the SPCA arrived, three of the six puppies had already found homes with loving neighbors. The remaining three were taken to the Bucks County SPCA, where they hoped to find their forever homes soon.

The three remaining dogs are still at Bucks County SPCA today, waiting for the perfect families to adopt them. Meanwhile, the police continue their investigation into the dogs’ original owners.

MBPD hopes to get in touch with either the rescuer or the original owner soon. In the meantime, they are urging the public to report any cases of animal neglect or abuse to authorities immediately.

β€œThe MBPD recommends contacting your local SPCA or police department if you believe any animal may not be receiving proper treatment or care,” MBPD advised. β€œPlease surrender your animals to shelters rather than abandoning them, even if the intentions are well-meaning.”
