“They were frightened, but they had each other,” ❤️

Suzette Hall, the founder of Logan’s Legacy 29 dog rescue, often receives calls about stray dogs in Southern California. Good Samaritans in Orange County frequently reach out to her when they encounter a dog in distress. However, recently, she received a call that was particularly troubling.

The Good Samaritan reported discovering not just one, but three tiny dogs abandoned on an empty property in Compton — and they steadfastly refused to leave each other’s side while awaiting assistance.

Upon seeing a photo of the pups, Hall immediately recognized that rescuing them would be a challenging endeavor to orchestrate. It was already difficult enough to coax one frightened dog, let alone three. Nevertheless, she understood that she was their only hope.

“It was absolutely heart-wrenching to witness,” Hall shared on Facebook. “They are all so small.”

Hall’s rescue mission faced an unexpected delay of a few days due to mechanical issues with her rescue vehicle. During this time, her friend Mary Nakiso visited the dogs every evening, providing them with nutritious food to sustain them while they awaited rescue.

When Hall finally arrived at the property, she was deeply moved by the trio’s unwavering loyalty to one another.

“They were terrified, but they had each other,” Hall expressed. “And their bond was undeniable.”

Hall showered the pups with loving affirmations from a comfortable distance, then devised a plan to capture them. She successfully caught the smallest of the three, whom she named Oscar, while Nakiso worked on gaining the trust of the middle pup. Fortunately, it didn’t take much convincing on Nakiso’s part.

“The little girl adored Mary, and Mary was able to win her over,” Hall recounted.

Hall and Nakiso were overjoyed to lift Oscar and his sister, Jolene, off the ground and into the safety of Hall’s van. However, their slightly larger brother, later named Ollie, proved to be more of a challenge for the rescuers.

“The third little guy was so terrified, he kept retreating into the garage,” Hall recounted.

Deciding to give the pup some space, Hall and Nakiso drove his siblings to Camino Pet Hospital while he had a chance to decompress. Later that evening, Hall returned to the property with a humane dog trap, placing it next to the garage where Ollie was hiding.

The next morning, Hall felt a profound sense of relief when she found Ollie sitting inside the trap. Without hesitation, she drove the sweet boy straight to the vet hospital, where he was reunited with his siblings.

“They were all so frightened. So cold, so hungry,” Hall reflected. “But they were finally all safe. They had each other once more.”

The triplets soon received clean bills of health before heading off to a foster home together, where Hall’s close friend, Genavie Ochoa, has been caring for them ever since.

Although Ollie remains somewhat timid, his siblings are gradually growing more comfortable in their new surroundings with each passing day. Despite the challenges they faced, their rescuers remain optimistic about their chances for a full emotional recovery.

“Ollie is still quite fearful, but the other two are incredibly sweet and enjoy belly rubs,” Hall shared with The Dodo. “These poor babies endured so much.”

Hall holds onto the hope that Ollie, Jolene, and Oscar will soon find their perfect forever family. Until then, she finds solace in knowing that as they cuddle together in a warm and secure environment, the pups already feel at home.

“I’m certain they haven’t slept this well in a long time,” Hall expressed. “They are rescued and have each other.”
