“He was actually the best-behaved student in the class …”

On September 29, English teacher Sangita Sharma walked into her classroom in India and noticed something she certainly hadn’t expected to see.

Sitting quietly at a desk near the back of the room was a little white dog, looking perfectly comfortable among the students.

“I was pleasantly surprised, because I hadn’t seen something like that,” Sharma told The Dodo.

The unexpected visitor was a dog named Scampy, who had followed his owner, Angel, to school that day. Rather than waiting outside, he had decided to join her in class—and settled into a seat as if he belonged there.

Instead of sending him away, Sharma welcomed the furry visitor. Her students were delighted, and Scampy seemed more than happy to take part in the lesson.

As it turned out, he was exceptionally well-behaved.

“He was actually the best-behaved student in the class, and honestly a dream, a 10/10 student for any teacher,” Sharma later wrote.

When the school day ended, Scampy went home with Angel. But his unexpected classroom appearance soon caught the internet’s attention, and the video of him sitting among the students began spreading online.

And apparently, Scampy wasn’t finished with school just yet.

A week later, he followed Angel back to Sharma’s English class. This time, the teacher recognized her four-legged student immediately.

“He was sitting in the exact same spot as the last time, so I decided to film him. I gave him a school bag as well,” Sharma said.

With his own little school bag and his favorite seat already picked out, Scampy looked ready to continue his education.

Whether he’ll become a regular in the classroom remains to be seen, but Sharma has made one thing clear: he’s always welcome back.

Of course, being a perfect student at school doesn’t necessarily mean Scampy behaves the same way everywhere else.

“He is very quiet and is deeply attached to his human,” Sharma said. “However, I have heard that he is quite feisty at home and doesn’t let anyone pass his home without barking at them.”

So while Scampy may be the quietest student in English class, he apparently takes his neighborhood security duties very seriously.

For now, though, he has earned himself a place in Sharma’s classroom—and perhaps the distinction of being every teacher’s dream student: quiet, attentive and absolutely adorable.
