β€œIn the end, it made for a lot of laughter and a very memorable day.”

Tom and Carina wanted their two beloved golden retrievers, Donny and Rio, to be part of their wedding day. The couple had a special role in mind for their furry family members: they would serve as ring bearers and deliver the wedding rings down the aisle.

To make sure everything went smoothly, they enlisted Happy Hounds Dog Walking and Pet Sitting, a Brisbane, Australia-based company that offers a special wedding attendant service for pets.

β€œOur team can assist with everything from transporting the dogs to and from the venue to supervising them, helping them participate in the ceremony and keeping them comfortable and happy throughout the celebrations,” a spokesperson for Happy Hounds told The Dodo.

When the big day arrived, Donny and Rio looked absolutely adorable in their tiny tuxedos. They greeted the wedding guests with their trademark smiles, looking every bit as proud and excited as their humans.

And when it was finally time to deliver the rings, the two golden boys did exactly what they were supposed to do.

β€œTom and Carina were keen to have Donny and Rio run off-leash down the aisle to deliver their wedding rings,” Happy Hounds said. β€œTo their credit, both boys absolutely nailed it.”

Their important mission was complete, and the wedding ceremony could continue. But Donny and Rio apparently had a different idea about what should happen next.

Instead of sticking around to celebrate, the two dogs spotted a nearby pond and made a beeline straight for the water.

β€œWe had an inkling that a spontaneous swim might be on the cards, but that was a risk Tom and Carina were willing to take,” the Happy Hounds team explained.

Apparently, once the rings had been delivered, the golden retrievers decided they had earned themselves a little celebration of their own. And what better way to celebrate than with an impromptu swim?

Luckily, their pet attendants had anticipated that something like this might happen. They had brought plenty of towels, so Donny and Rio could be cleaned up and dried off after their unexpected aquatic adventure.

What could have been a wedding-day mishap quickly became one of the most memorable moments of the celebration.

β€œIn the end, it made for a lot of laughter and a very memorable day,” Happy Hounds said. β€œDonny and Rio were very pleased with themselves, and their pet parents thought it was hilarious and very much in keeping with their boys’ personalities.”

Donny and Rio may have had just one job to do that day, but they managed to make their contribution unforgettable. They delivered the rings perfectly, stole plenty of hearts in their little tuxedos and added a spontaneous splash of fun to their humans’ special day.

After all, a wedding is about celebrating loveβ€”and these two golden retrievers certainly brought plenty of it, along with a little muddy-pawed mischief.
