“Somebody give Gerald a home right away because I would do it otherwise.”
Sally Field and Lewis Pullman were thrilled to meet their Dodo Dream Date, an 8-year-old dog named Gerald. The moment Gerald was carried into the room, Sally was instantly smitten.
She couldn’t believe such a sweet dog still hadn’t found a home. Gerald had been waiting since January, and both Sally and Lewis were surprised that no one had adopted him yet.
Sally immediately joked that Gerald might have found his home right there with her. She was so taken with him that she said someone needed to adopt him quickly — otherwise she might be tempted to do it herself.
After giving Gerald plenty of affection, Sally, Lewis and their furry date sat down to play a game with question jars, treats and toys. Some jars included questions about their new movie, Remarkably Bright Creatures, and what they hoped viewers would feel after watching it.
Lewis joked that the perfect night would be watching the movie on Mother’s Day on Netflix while cuddling with a newly adopted dog — ideally Gerald.
Gerald wasn’t especially interested in the toys, but he was very interested in the treats. Sally gently fed him one, and although she tried to answer questions during the game, it was clear that Gerald had completely captured her attention.
At one point, she admitted she could barely focus on anything except him.
As the date continued, Sally and Lewis talked about their work, their roles and the love they have for animals. Sally shared that she brings her own pets with her everywhere she can, even to film sets.
By the end of the date, the actors gave Gerald a basket of toys to take with him when he finally finds his forever home. Sally also made him promise that once he gets adopted, he’ll let her know where he ends up so she can come visit.
Gerald may have arrived still looking for a family, but by the end of his Dream Date, he had clearly won over two very famous new fans.
