Since late 2021, life in Lisa Laskey’s home has revolved around one highly anticipated daily event: the arrival of their local U.S. Postal Service driver, affectionately known as Postman Dan. For Laskey’s Chihuahua, Frannie, it’s the absolute highlight of her day.
Love at First Sight
Frannie first met Dan five years ago when she was just 10 months old. Cradled in her mom’s arms, she came face-to-face with the friendly mail carrier — and instantly fell in love.
From that moment on, Frannie made it her mission to be ready for his arrival every single day. She’d sit by the door, patiently waiting for the familiar white truck to pull into the driveway.
The Daily Ritual
“When the truck starts coming, her little body starts to shake, and she lets out a tiny yap to let me know he’s here,” Laskey shared.
Even after just one day apart, Frannie would explode with excitement the second she saw Dan again. So when the family took their first week-long vacation since the friendship began, they knew the reunion would be emotional.
What they didn’t know was that Dan had a surprise planned.
The Sweetest Surprise
When the family returned from their trip, Frannie rushed to the door as usual when Dan’s truck appeared. Laskey let her outside, expecting their normal greeting.
But this time was different.
As Dan knelt down to scoop Frannie into his arms, he handed her something she’d never received before — a tiny, perfectly sized bouquet of sticks, lovingly rolled just for her.
A Gift That Stole Hearts
Frannie was already overjoyed just to see Dan again, but the little bundle of sticks sent her excitement over the edge. She proudly accepted her gift, tail wagging wildly.
