🐂 Bull on the Loose in Birmingham Finds Sanctuary 170 Miles Away
A young bull who caused a stir as he wandered the streets of Digbeth, Birmingham, has now found peace at a Norfolk animal sanctuary—after being spotted amid city traffic near New Bond Street on Friday morning.
The bull was safely guided into a former Dunelm store before being collected in the early hours by Wendy Valentine, founder of Hillside Animal Sanctuary in Frettenham. She transported the bull—now named Liam—170 miles to join over 750 rescued cattle.

“He’s a bit stressed, but he’s safe and eating,” Valentine said. “He’ll be castrated, introduced to a herd, and spend the rest of his days doing what he wants.”
With no owner coming forward, the sanctuary stepped in to prevent the bull from possibly being euthanized. Council and animal welfare staff were praised for their calm response.
Cllr Majid Mahmood praised the effort, writing on X:

“Our amazing street cleansing staff weren’t phased at all… Well done to our animal welfare staff and park rangers.”
Footage of Liam amid morning traffic went viral, sparking jokes about a pilgrimage to the Bullring shopping centre.
But now, this “misplaced” yet “magnificent” animal can look forward to a long, peaceful life—thanks to swift teamwork and compassionate rescue.
