“It makes me happy …”
Philippine performer Philip Jose Galit — better known by his stage name Shadow Ace — is famous for creating stunning shadow illusions using nothing more than a light and his hands. His talent even helped him reach the grand finals of Asia’s Got Talent.
But while audiences across Asia have been amazed by his performances, one tiny fan at home may be even more captivated — his playful cat, Kutilog.
Meet Kutilog, the Mischievous Assistant
Galit describes Kutilog as energetic, curious and always ready for fun.
The cat’s name comes from the Tagalog word “kulit,” which means playful or cheeky — a perfect description for his lively personality.
During one recent practice session at home, Kutilog decided to join the show.
A Shadow That Looked Like a Toy
While Galit practiced one of his hand-shadow routines — inspired by Michael Jackson — Kutilog noticed the moving silhouette on the wall.
To the kitten, it looked like a brand-new toy.
He immediately ran toward the shadow and started chasing it, convinced the mysterious shape was something he could catch and play with.
The playful moment quickly turned Galit’s rehearsal into an impromptu game.

Hard to Focus With a Cute Distraction
Galit says he loves having Kutilog nearby while he practices, even if it sometimes makes focusing difficult.
Watching the kitten pounce at the shadows often makes him want to pause his work and play instead.
But for Galit, the distraction is a welcome one.
Pets Behind the Scenes
Galit is a passionate animal lover, and animals often appear in his shadow puppetry performances.
He believes pets provide important emotional support, especially during times when people might feel alone.
According to him, animals like Kutilog help bring comfort, companionship and happiness.

Always Watching the Show
Shadow puppetry usually keeps Galit behind the scenes, with only the silhouettes of his hands visible to the audience.
But no matter what shapes he creates on the wall, one viewer is always paying close attention.
Kutilog is there — watching carefully, waiting patiently and ready to pounce on the next shadow that moves. 🐾
