And another on the curtains …
Last week, the team at Wildlife Aid received an urgent and unusual call from a baffled couple. Overnight, while they were fast asleep, two unexpected guests had entered their home — not burglars, but birds.
Sometime during the night, the feathered visitors had slipped down the chimney and landed straight into the couple’s dining room, apparently deciding it was a perfectly fine place to stay.
An Owl on the Chandelier
When the homeowners woke up, they were greeted by a scene they could hardly believe. One tawny owl was calmly perched on the chandelier, fast asleep, while the other had managed to tangle itself upside down in the curtains.
“The homeowners woke up to quite the surprise,” Wildlife Aid shared on Facebook. “One tawny owl snoozing on the chandelier and the other hanging from the curtains!”

Calling in the Experts
Stunned and unsure what to do, the couple immediately contacted Wildlife Aid. Within a short time, trained rescuers arrived at the house to handle the situation safely.

Rescuing even one frightened owl indoors is no easy task — these birds are large, powerful, and easily stressed. But rescuing two at once inside a confined space required patience, precision, and experience.
A Delicate Mission
Thankfully, the Wildlife Aid team knew exactly how to approach the situation. Using calm movements and careful handling, they prepared to remove both owls without causing them further distress — and without turning the couple’s dining room into a full-blown flight zone. 🦉✨
What began as a peaceful night ended with one of the most unforgettable wake-up calls the homeowners will probably ever have.
