They saved two furry lives.
Two friends heading out for an early morning hike in the Middle East had no idea their trip would turn into a rescue mission.
Their adventure took an unexpected turn when they walked past an old, abandoned reservoir hidden among the rocky mountains.

“We were climbing up the trail when we noticed something strange inside the reservoir,” hiker Saeed Saedi told The Dodo.
Curious, the pair moved closer and were shocked by what they saw — two animals trapped at the bottom.
“We realized they had fallen in and couldn’t get out,” Saedi explained. “When they stood up, we finally recognized that they were badgers.”
The startled badgers tried to scramble away, but the reservoir walls were far too steep for them to climb. It was obvious they had been stuck there for quite some time.

“There was no hesitation — we knew we had to help them,” Saedi said.
To avoid frightening the animals further, the hikers didn’t try to pick them up. Instead, they came up with a clever solution.
“We began stacking rocks to build a little platform or ramp they could use to climb out,” Saedi said.
Before long, their plan succeeded.

“They finally managed to pull themselves up and run off,” Saedi shared. “Seeing them escape, healthy and energetic, felt incredible.”
Their small act of kindness ended up saving two lives that morning.
“It really lifted our spirits,” Saedi said. “We continued our hike with a great feeling. I’d encourage anyone to help an animal in need — even the smallest effort can make a big difference.”
