A Christmas Gift Like No Other
On Christmas Day, staff at Furkids Animal Rescue in Georgia were delighted to receive a very unusual gift—a new stray cat.
Looking at him brought instant joy.
“[He’s] 15 pounds of pure street cred,” Furkids wrote. “[With] the jowls of a mob boss.”

Meet Katpone
The cat, named Katpone, was estimated to be 4 or 5 years old. His impressively round face made him seem much older—like a seasoned mob boss of the neighborhood.
“He looks like the type of cat to settle disputes behind a dumpster and come out on top every time,” Furkids joked.

The Story Behind the Jowls
Katpone’s massive cheeks weren’t just adorable—they were a sign of his life as a stray. As an un-neutered cat, high testosterone caused his facial skin and muscles to thicken, signaling dominance and offering protection in fights.
“He is about 5 years old and un-neutered,” Furkids explained.
A History of Hardship

Katpone had more than just big jowls. Years on the streets left him with feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV), an upper respiratory infection, and ear injuries likely from fights.
“His ears are a little wonky, most likely due to ear mites and scuffles with other cats,” Furkids said.
Life at Furkids

Despite his “mean mug” face, Katpone proved to be incredibly sweet. The Furkids team was thrilled to give him the care he needed.
“He is an incredibly sweet cat despite his mean mug face!” said Karlie Lucas, Furkids’ social media specialist.

In the weeks since arriving, Katpone has been “running the place,” improving in health, and preparing for adoption into a loving forever home.
A Chonky Christmas Legend

Until then, the team continues to enjoy their unexpectedly chonky, jowly Christmas gift.
“We’re so happy we crossed paths with this fella and will find him the best home,” Furkids wrote.
