A small group of guinea pigs discovered wandering along the north coast of Jersey are still waiting to be claimed after being rescued earlier this week.
The animals were taken in by the JSPCA after members of the public spotted them outdoors and alerted authorities.
Unusual Discovery on the Coast
The unusual sighting occurred Tuesday morning when walkers noticed several guinea pigs moving through bushes near the cliffs.
Rescuers from the JSPCA quickly arrived at the scene and spent much of the day searching the area near Devil’s Hole, where the animals had first been reported.
Originally, six guinea pigs were spotted roaming around the area.
Seven Guinea Pigs Now in Shelter Care
After the rescue effort, the shelter confirmed that seven guinea pigs are now in their care.
Among them are two adult guinea pigs and five babies, including two males and five females.
Despite the unusual discovery attracting attention, no owner has come forward to claim them so far.
Now Safe and Being Cared For
The guinea pigs are currently staying at the JSPCA animal shelter, where staff are making sure they are healthy and comfortable.
According to the organization, seeing multiple guinea pigs wandering freely in the wild is extremely unusual, and it remains unclear how they ended up on the coast.
For now, the priority is ensuring the animals receive proper care while rescuers hope someone may eventually come forward with answers about their mysterious appearance. ๐น
