Allison Thomison’s deaf pit bull, Evie, caught her attention when she couldn’t tear her gaze away from the truck her husband was fixing. Living on a sprawling 300-acre farm in rural Arizona, Thomison knew that when Evie fixated on something, it usually meant a wild animal like a Gila monster or rattlesnake was nearby.
However, upon closer inspection, Thomison discovered it wasn’t a wild creature but a tiny kitten that had grabbed Evie’s interest. To her surprise, Thomison recognized the kitten.
Weeks earlier, Thomison had noticed a kitten resembling her cat Noodle, trailing after him everywhere. Unsure if it was a mere coincidence or a familial connection due to Noodle being neutered, Thomison nicknamed the kitten Mini-Me. After Mini-Me disappeared, Evie unveiled his hiding spot in the truck her husband had been working on.
With no engine, the truck provided ample space for Mini-Me to cozy up. Convincing him to leave proved challenging, as he initially resisted Thomison’s attempts. However, once he realized they meant no harm, Mini-Me relented and emerged.
Now settled in, Mini-Me roams the farm with confidence, though he’s yet to warm up to Evie and often swipes at her. Thomison has provided him with a comfortable barn, but Mini-Me prefers the truck, reminiscent of Oscar the Grouch in his trash can abode.
“He just loves being in there,” Thomison chuckled.
