A heartwarming new arrival has delighted visitors at a countryside retreat in Leek.
A baby wallaby, known as a joey, has been spotted peeking out from its mother’s pouch at Hollydale Cottages — marking an exciting milestone for the small animal family living there.
A Magical First Peek
Owners Jennifer and Scott Walker described the moment they first noticed the joey as unforgettable.
“Seeing this tiny little face beginning to pop out and explore the world has been amazing,” they said.
Like all marsupials, wallaby joeys spend the early part of their lives safely tucked inside their mother’s pouch before gradually venturing out.
A Surprise For Visitors
The retreat is already home to a variety of animals, but wallabies are often the most unexpected residents.
“People are always surprised to find wallabies here in Staffordshire,” the owners shared.
Alongside the wallabies, guests can also meet:
- Highland cows
- Alpacas
- Miniature ponies
- Donkeys
Growing Confidence
As the joey grows stronger, it will begin spending more time outside the pouch, exploring its surroundings step by step.
Visitors to the retreat may soon be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the little one hopping around for the first time.
A Special Experience For Guests
For the owners, the joey’s arrival is a reminder of the joy animals bring.
“It’s a magical experience,” they said. “We feel very lucky to be able to share it with our guests.”
And for anyone visiting, spotting that tiny face peeking out of the pouch is sure to be a moment they won’t forget. 🦘💛
