β€œShe was left behind in the hot sun …”

A Distressed Pup in the Sweltering Heat of Los Angeles

As the autumn sun blazed over Los Angeles, dog rescuer Suzette Hall received a distressing message. A Good Samaritan had spotted a pup stranded outside an abandoned warehouse with no shelter from the scorching heat.

β€œ[She was] tied in a business area and left behind in the hot sun,” Hall shared on Facebook. At the time, Hall, founder of Logan’s Legacy 29, was already on a rescue mission but immediately knew this pup was in grave danger. The dog was over an hour away, and time was running out to save her.

A Race Against Time

With a heavy heart, Hall realized she couldn’t reach the dog quickly enough. So, she called on friends for help. Fortunately, her friend Mary Nakiso sprang into action.

β€œThank God for Mary Nakiso, my amazing friend,” Hall wrote. Nakiso had just finished her shift but didn’t hesitate to rush to the location.

A Desperate Search

When Nakiso arrived at the industrial area, she was met with rows of businesses and warehouses. Despite searching for the dog, there was no sign of her. Just as hope seemed to fade, Nakiso noticed the staircase from the photos.

β€œShe saw the stairs but didn’t see [the pup],” Hall recalled. But then, Nakiso screamed in relief, β€œI found her!”

The dog, who had initially been tied to the staircase, was now secured to a nearby fence. Dehydrated and trembling, she had spent the entire day in the sun without water.

A Timely Rescue

Nakiso had arrived just in time to save the distressed pup, later named Brinley. Though shaken, Brinley knew her rescuer was there to help. Hall joined them soon after, taking Brinley to Camino Pet Hospital for a much-needed checkup and grooming.

A New Beginning for Brinley

It’s been over a week since Brinley’s rescue, and she’s slowly adjusting to her new life. Now in a loving foster home, Brinley spends her days enjoying the comforts of her cozy bed and receiving all the affection she deserves.

β€œShe’s still a little shut down, but with an amazing foster [who’s] making her feel like a princess, she finally knows what love feels like,” Hall said. Brinley’s heartbreaking ordeal has turned into a story of hope, proving that even in the hottest and darkest moments, love and care can make all the difference.
