As a full-time dog rescuer, Suzette Hall is no stranger to heartbreaking cases involving pups in distress. Most of her rescues involve dogs found wandering the streets of Los Angeles. But over the weekend, she encountered a particularly poignant situation that struck a deep chord.
A dog, left abandoned and tied to a pole in a residential neighborhood, was found stuck on the sidewalk. The scared, confused pup watched helplessly as people walked by without offering assistance.
βHe was there all night, tied to that pole,β Hall, founder of Loganβs Legacy 29, posted on Facebook. βI seriously canβt believe how many people just did nothing.β
Despite the presence of a coyote pack in the area, the small dog managed to fend off danger through the night. Hall was moved by the pupβs bravery and resilience despite his vulnerable situation.
βWhat a sweet baby who did nothing to deserve that,β Hall wrote. βI told him we would figure it all out.β
She named the dog PiΓ±ata and promised him a loving home. Hall carefully untied his leash from the pole, scooped him up, and placed him in her van. As they drove away, PiΓ±ata, sensing his newfound safety, finally drifted off to sleep.
βThe best part and my favorite part is that he knew it was going to be OK and fell asleep driving to my vet,β Hall shared.
At Camino Pet Hospital, PiΓ±ata received a full medical evaluation and passed with flying colors. After a comforting bath and some much-needed rest, he was settled into his foster home.
PiΓ±ata is thriving in foster care and is already showing his sweet and kind nature.
βHe is so sweet and kind,β Hall said.
PiΓ±ata will soon be available for adoption, eagerly awaiting a forever family to love him for life. Until then, he continues to enjoy his time in foster care, expressing his gratitude to his rescuers.
βHe is beyond grateful to be rescued,β Hall said. βLook at his smiles now.β
