She never gets tired of saying hi to her BFF ๐ฅบ
One day in October 2021, Lisa Laskey and her 10-week-old Chihuahua, Frannie, watched as the postman drove up to their house. Noticing Frannieโs excitement, Laskey decided to introduce her to the postman. Little did she know, this simple encounter would change their lives forever.
Over the next few days, Frannie developed a routine of enthusiastically sprinting toward the postman, Dan Larsen, every time he arrived. Laskey was amazed by their growing friendship. โMy husband and I were shocked by how much she loved this guy,โ Laskey shared.
As Frannie and Danโs bond grew, Laskey learned more about Dan. He had been a postman for nearly 40 years and was married to Janet. She began posting videos of their interactions and tracked how often Frannie would run to greet him. Despite occasional long stretches when they didnโt see each otherโlike when Dan had knee replacement surgeryโFrannieโs excitement never waned. When Dan returned to work, Frannieโs joyous sprint to meet him was as enthusiastic as ever.
When Frannie needed surgery, Dan, concerned about her absence, went out of his way to check on her after finishing his route. Frannieโs happiness upon seeing him was matched by Danโs affection. โDan said, โAs long as Frannie wants to see me, I will get out of my truck every single day. I love that little dog,โโ Laskey recounted.
Laskey enjoys sharing their story and even wrote two childrenโs books about โFranDanโ (Frannie and Dan), with proceeds supporting Almost Home Foundation, an animal rescue in Schaumburg, Illinois.
The story reached a new milestone when it approached Frannieโs 500th run to greet Dan. The mayor of their Illinois town requested to join the celebration, and on July 27, Frannieโs 500th run was honored with keys to the city and the declaration of โFranDan Day.โ
Even now, Laskey finds it hard to believe. โEvery day, we just shake our heads in awe,โ she said.
