Best retirement party ever.

When hospital dog Tambor arrived at Clรญnica Medellรญn last week, he probably expected another normal day of work. For years, he had walked through those doors ready to comfort patients and staff. But this time, the moment he entered, his coworkers stood and applauded him.

Tambor was used to receiving love and attention at the hospital, but he didnโ€™t know that this day was special. After seven years of service as an emotional support dog, he was officially retiring โ€” and the hospital team had planned a heartfelt farewell.

During his time at Clรญnica Medellรญn, Tambor became deeply loved by everyone around him. Patients found comfort in his calm presence before medical procedures, and staff members often leaned on him emotionally during long or stressful shifts. With his sweet personality and floppy basset-hound ears, he became a familiar and comforting part of daily life at the hospital.

Because Tambor had meant so much to so many people, the staff knew they couldnโ€™t let him leave quietly.

They gathered in the hallway and cheered as Tambor made one final walk through the corridor. His tail wagged excitedly as he passed his friends, soaking up the attention from the people who had loved him for years.

After the hallway celebration, everyone moved into a conference room for a more emotional goodbye. Staff members shared memories and spoke about the difference Tambor had made throughout the hospital.

They described him as more than just a support dog. To them, he was a quiet companion, a source of peace and a comforting presence during difficult moments. His work didnโ€™t require words โ€” simply being there was enough to help people feel calmer and less alone.

As one employee spoke, tears filled their eyes while Tambor happily wagged his tail, unaware of just how deeply he had touched everyone in the room.

The farewell ended with some of Tamborโ€™s favorite snacks and a special certificate honoring his years of service. After plenty of hugs and goodbye kisses, Tambor left the hospital with his loving family to begin his well-earned retirement.

The team at Clรญnica Medellรญn already misses him, but they are grateful for every moment they had with him. Other emotional support dogs may join the hospital in the future, but Tamborโ€™s place in everyoneโ€™s hearts will always be unique.

His time at the clinic may have ended, but the comfort and joy he brought will never be forgotten.
