Brave Rescue: 22-Year-Old Horse Saved from Moorland Pond π΄π§
A 22-year-old horse found herself in a perilous situation on Carbis Moor near St Austell, Cornwall, when she became stuck in a pond surrounded by mud and water.
Trapped in Mud and Water
On the morning of 2 January, firefighters discovered the horse submerged about 3 feet deep in the muddy water, unable to free herself. The scene was tense, but help was close at hand.
Firefighters Step In
The Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service acted quickly. Crews first cleared away vegetation and undergrowth from the pondβs edge to create a safe path. Then, using a winch, they carefully hauled the horse out of the water, ensuring she was not injured during the rescue.
Safe and Cared For
Once safely on solid ground, the horse was handed back into the care of her owner and attended by a veterinarian. Thanks to the quick thinking and skill of the rescue team, the elderly horse was safe and unharmed.
