In the popular mobile game Hay Day, players manage virtual farms where they grow crops, care for animals, fish, and expand barns β a relaxing experience similar to games like Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing.
From December 15 to December 24, players can take part in a special event that lets them tap and interact with virtual huskies and Alaskan Malamutes, all while supporting real-life animal rescue efforts.
Throughout the nine-day campaign, progress made in the game contributes directly to aiding Muddy Paws Rescue, an animal rescue organization based in New York Cityβs Hellβs Kitchen neighborhood.
βWorking with Hay Day this holiday season gives us the chance to connect with millions of animal lovers in a fresh and impactful way,β said Rachael Ziering, founding executive director of Muddy Paws Rescue, in a press statement.
She explained that the βHome for the Howlidaysβ initiative not only helps provide essential supplies such as food, veterinary care, and foster kits, but also raises awareness about fostering pets and matching dogs with the right families.
Hay Day was first launched in 2012 by Supercell, the company also known for creating Clash of Clans.

The farming simulation previously gained attention in early 2025 after hosting a crossover event with celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay. However, charitable collaborations are nothing new for the game.
In November, Hay Day partnered with the UN World Food Programmeβs ShareTheMeal campaign, encouraging players to search for virtual ghosts during its Harvest event β an effort that helped provide 200,000 meals to families in need.
Deborah Mensah-Bonsu, Supercellβs social impact partner, described Home for the Howlidays as another example of how the company brings Hay Dayβs community-focused spirit beyond the game itself.
βOur calm farming world is something players love, and together weβre able to spread that sense of care and balance into the real world,β Mensah-Bonsu said.
