From Landfill to Love: Feather the Dog and Her Puppies Find Safety After Being Abandoned
A few weeks ago, animal rescuer Suzette Hall, founder of Loganβs Legacy 29, got a heartbreaking call: a fluffy white family had been spotted near a landfill in Los Angeles. What initially looked like a pile of fur turned out to be a mother dog and her puppies, abandoned among the trash with no food or water.

The mama dog, later named Feather, was doing her best to protect and keep her babies β Pho, Daikon, Lychee, and Nieve β alive in awful conditions. Despite being hungry, infested with fleas, and living on trash, Feather shielded her pups from the harsh world around them, cuddling close to keep them warm.

βShe did everything to protect them,β Hall shared. βThey would cuddle together to get warm.β

Determined to save them, Hall sent her trusted volunteers, Yamy NuΓ±ez and Karla, to the scene. Meanwhile, another group, All Dogs LA, arrived first to ensure the dogs wouldnβt fall into the wrong hands. Once Yamy and Karla arrived, the rescue mission began in earnest. The puppies, familiar with their surroundings, tried to hide under debris, but the team managed to scoop them up safely.
At the vet clinic, the full extent of their condition was revealed: all five dogs were battling fleas, hookworms, and roundworms. Feather also had a large umbilical hernia. Though the recovery was uncomfortable, the little family pulled through β stronger and safer.

Now, Feather and her pups are preparing for the next chapter: foster care and, hopefully, adoption into loving homes. For the first time, Feather no longer has to stand guard.
As Hall beautifully put it:
βTonight, they are safe, and [Feather] can sleep and not have to protect her little babies ever again.β
