โ€œShe is very sweet.”

A family of bunnies has recently made Michelle Owensโ€™ backyard in Kansas their home. They usually come out early in the morning or later in the evening, which has made them very interesting to Owensโ€™ dog, Carley Mae.

Carley Mae is a gentle dog, and she loves watching the bunnies from the window. Whenever she gets the chance, she sometimes runs after them in the yard โ€” though she has never actually been able to get close to one.

That changed recently, but not in the way anyone expected.

While Owens was out of town, a friend stopped by to check on the house and let Carley Mae outside. Not long after, the friend noticed that Carley Mae seemed focused on something near the pool.

When she looked closer, she realized a tiny bunny had fallen into the water and couldnโ€™t climb out.

Owensโ€™ friend quickly began searching for the pool scoop, hoping to rescue the frightened little animal. But before she could reach it, Carley Mae stepped in.

The dog carefully followed the bunny along the edge of the pool, then gently lifted him out of the water herself.

Thanks to Carley Maeโ€™s quick action, the bunny was saved. Moments later, the little animal ran off safely into the yard.

Owens later returned home and watched the security footage, where she saw exactly how Carley Mae had rescued the bunny. She was relieved to see that the small rabbit had survived the scary incident and was still living in the yard.

Carley Mae, of course, was rewarded for her heroic behavior.

Her family gave her extra praise, a special treat and a well-earned belly rub.
