“Every penny spent and every minute of wait was worth it
Helena thought her trip to Turkey would be about relaxing by the pool.
Instead, it became the beginning of a life-changing friendship.
The Cat Who Chose Her
On the very first day, Helena and her boyfriend Adam returned from a swim to find a fluffy orange cat stretched out on their lounge chair.
They named him Puck.
Unlike the other hotel cats, Puck didn’t come looking for food.
He came for her.
“He just melted into me,” Helena said. “Like we already knew each other.”
Love At First Cuddle
Puck quickly made himself at home:
- Falling asleep in her lap
- Making biscuits (kneading)
- Following her around
Helena joked he was “their cat” — never imagining it might actually come true.
A Small Problem… And A Big Decision
Then Helena noticed something worrying:
Puck had severe ear mites.
She wanted to help — but treating him and leaving him behind didn’t feel right anymore.
So she asked the hotel manager a bold question:
Could she adopt him?
An Unexpected Yes
To her surprise, the answer was simple:
Yes.
The manager even said she could take more cats if she wanted.
But Helena only had eyes for Puck.
The Journey Home ✈️
With help from Paws of Hope, Puck began his journey:
- Transported from Antalya to Istanbul
- Stayed in a pet hotel
- Completed vaccinations and paperwork
- Finally flew to Prague
Meanwhile, Helena waited anxiously back home in the Czech Republic.
A Perfect Fit
When Puck finally arrived, something amazing happened:
He settled in immediately.
He became:
- A cuddle expert
- Helena’s shadow around the house
- Best friends with her other cat, Guts
Now they play, wrestle, and act like siblings.
The Best Souvenir Ever
What started as a random moment by a pool turned into something permanent.
Helena didn’t just bring home memories.
She brought home family.
