βShort legs, big personality, and unfortunately … a body that chose violence against itself.”
When Blueberry first arrived at Out of the Woods Rescue, no one was completely sure what was going on with her health. She was a tiny munchkin cat from a breeder, and her medical problems had become so overwhelming that her owner was considering euthanasia.
Thankfully, the rescue stepped in before that could happen. From the moment they met Blueberry, they knew she deserved a chance.

Blueberry may have short legs, but she had a huge personality. Unfortunately, her little body was dealing with several serious issues. Once she was safely in the rescueβs care, the team began trying to understand what was making her so uncomfortable.
They soon discovered that Blueberry had severe allergies along with secondary bacterial infections. Her skin was so itchy that she had been licking and scratching herself until she was raw.

The rescue started her on multiple medications, switched her to a special diet and placed caps on her nails so she couldnβt keep hurting herself. Slowly, the treatments began to work. Her skin healed, her fur grew back and the infection cleared.
Just when everyone thought Blueberry was ready for adoption, another problem appeared. The rescue noticed that she was chewing strangely, and a closer exam revealed two large masses in the back of her mouth.

Blueberry underwent surgery to remove the masses and had all of her teeth extracted. Now, at just 1 year old and only 4 pounds, she is a tiny toothless cat with a long medical journey behind her.
Even with everything she has endured, Blueberry remains curious, affectionate and full of confidence. She loves people and enjoys attention. In her foster home, she lives with two larger foster brothers, Hunk and Scott, but she has no problem acting like the boss.
Despite her little legs, Blueberry can still jump onto the couch for snuggles and go up and down the stairs. She also travels well and often goes to work with her foster caregiver, where she happily accepts attention from everyone she meets.
Blueberry still needs a family who understands that she may require ongoing care, patience and support. But her rescuers know she has so much love to give.
After surviving such a difficult first year, Blueberry is ready for a home that sees her for who she truly is β a brave, sweet, tiny cat with a big personality and an even bigger heart.
