He’s so adorable and unique 🥺

Stray Dog With “Duck Feet” Finds Love and Hope After Being Abandoned

When a stray dog named Ducky arrived at the Lancaster Animal Care Center in California last month, the staff instantly fell for his cheerful, outgoing personality.

While many dogs grow anxious or withdrawn in the shelter’s noisy environment, Ducky seemed completely unfazed.

“He wasn’t letting the environment get to him at all,” said Evelyn, a volunteer at the center. “He was just so hopeful.”

As the team examined Ducky, they noticed something unusual — his front paws pointed out at a 90-degree angle, almost like a duck’s webbed feet.

At first, Evelyn assumed it was a genetic condition, but veterinarians suggested it could also be the result of being confined in a small space for too long. X-rays didn’t reveal any pain or medical issues, though, and Ducky showed no signs of discomfort.

“He doesn’t seem to be in any kind of pain, and it doesn’t seem to be affecting him at all,” Evelyn said.

During his vet visit, staff discovered a microchip — but when they contacted the owners, they said they didn’t want him back.

Evelyn was heartbroken.

“He’s so goofy and affectionate,” she said. “And he just loves everyone.”

When Ducky needed a temporary foster, Evelyn immediately volunteered. She spent an entire day with him, showering him with affection and chicken treats.

“We took walks, we played, and he just melted into my arms,” she said. “You just want to squish his cute face all the time.”

Soon after, Minnie’s Mutts Dog Rescue stepped in to place Ducky in a loving long-term foster home. Now, he’s enjoying cozy baths, long naps, and plenty of attention from his new foster family.

Ducky is officially available for adoption through Minnie’s Mutts, and Evelyn hopes someone will fall in love with him the way she did.

“There’s not even enough words to explain how excited I would be for him,” Evelyn said. “The day I hear that he gets adopted, it’s just going to melt my heart. He’s really such a special dog.”
