When Sarah Paulson first met her Dodo Dream Date, a sweet pup named Honeydew, she could barely contain her excitement. From the moment they locked eyes, it was clear the two were going to have an unforgettable day together.
“My first thought when I met Honeydew was that I wish I had given birth to her,” Sarah joked in her interview with The Dodo.
Honeydew had been searching for her forever home for about a month through the HIT Living Foundation. She was still a bit shy around new people, but Sarah was determined to help her open up. One thing that immediately caught Sarah’s attention was Honeydew’s adorable underbite — the same feature her own dog, Louise, has.
“It’s honestly one of my favorite things about her,” Sarah said.
While Honeydew made herself comfortable in Sarah’s lap, the two kicked off their date with a fun game called “Truth or Tails,” created to help them get to know each other better. Sarah was all in, eager to learn everything about her furry companion.
In the first round, they discovered that Sarah made her Broadway debut as a teenager, while Honeydew had only recently realized how much she loves toys. Sarah offered her a few to play with, but Honeydew preferred to cuddle up and relax instead.
During the next round, Sarah revealed she’s terrified of clowns, and she learned that Honeydew is actually a proud mom of four puppies.
“I bet you were the best mama,” Sarah said affectionately.
The game continued, and Sarah shared that she stars in Hulu’s upcoming legal drama All’s Fair, premiering November 4. Meanwhile, she found out that Honeydew is a model of good manners — unless there’s a squirrel nearby.
As they chatted and played, the two grew even closer, with plenty of treats, pets, and kisses exchanged along the way. Sarah also discovered that Honeydew was still learning how to fully trust people — but as the afternoon went on, she became more comfortable by Sarah’s side.
Next, the pair tried out a few snack options to find Honeydew’s favorites. It turned out she’s a big fan of cheese and peanut butter, but strawberries weren’t exactly her thing.
Before their date came to an end, Sarah surprised Honeydew with a special gift box to take with her to her future home — complete with a free dog-training session.
“My favorite part of the date was absolutely every minute of it,” Sarah said with a smile. “If I could do it all again, I would in a heartbeat.”
