“She’s just so warm and cuddly.”
Rita Ora walked into the room ready to make a good impression. Dove, a small rescue pup with five months of shelter time behind her, didn’t waste a second — she headed straight for Rita’s lap and stayed there.
The date had officially begun.
Treats, questions, and a very comfortable dog
Rita came prepared. She brought a bouquet of plush roses, a basket of gifts, and several mystery jars filled with treats and get-to-know-you questions. As Dove worked her way through the snacks, Rita opened up about her life — her current favorite songs, her role as the Queen of Hearts in Descendants: Wicked Wonderland, and her plans for the future.
“Everything is elevated,” Rita said of the film. “The outfits, the music, the shebang — you’re not going to want to miss it.”
On the music front, she was slightly more coy.
“I want to put out my new record, which I may or may not have finished — but that’s all I’m going to say on that.”
A queen recognizes a queen
Throughout it all, Dove remained exactly where she’d started — curled up, warm, completely at ease.
“She’s just so warm and cuddly,” Rita said. “Girl, you’re the cutest.”
As their time together wound down, Rita presented Dove with a parting gift: a basket full of toys to take with her when she finally finds her forever home. Tucked inside was a plush crown — a fitting touch from someone who knows a fellow queen when she sees one.
“I feel like she just is a chill queen like me,” Rita said.
Rita is a dog mom herself — her rescue pup Honey came first — so she knows better than most what a dog like Dove has to offer the right family. Dove was pulled from an animal shelter in Kern County, California, and has been waiting five months for someone to choose her.
After an afternoon like this one, it’s hard to imagine that wait lasting much longer.
