“She struggled to contain her excitement …”

On the day she found her forever home, Kona, a spirited pittie mix with a heart of gold, embarked on a mission to infuse her new abode with boundless joy. From the moment she arrived as a playful puppy, she became the life and soul of the household, engaging in endless games with her devoted mom, Collyn, and anyone lucky enough to cross their threshold. Whether chasing after toys or snuggling close for a nap, Kona had an uncanny knack for spreading smiles

Following a year of being the cherished only fur child, Kona’s parents decided to expand their family by adopting another puppy, Mako. Kona approached her new role as a big sister with earnest dedication, gracefully transitioning from her exuberant playfulness to a more poised and responsible demeanor.

In the wake of Mako’s settling, Kona and her family embarked on a heartwarming journey of fostering a series of adorable pups, each one a gem in their own right. While Mako orchestrated lively play sessions, Kona assumed the mantle of guardian, meticulously ensuring the well-being and adherence to household guidelines of her temporary siblings.

And as the sun dipped below the horizon, Kona faithfully sought out her mom, sharing tales of the day’s adventures and seeking reassurance in their bond.

Kona cherished moments of celebration with her family above all else. Whether donning Halloween costumes or participating in her parents’ wedding, she thrived on joining in on the joy of others. This love for festivities inspired Collyn to create a special celebration just for her.

For Kona’s 7th birthday a few weeks ago, Collyn surprised her with a pink bandana, a sparkling tiara, and a gathering of all her closest friends. As evening fell, her favorite people serenaded her with a birthday song and presented her with her very first cake.

“I finally gave in and got her a dog birthday cake for the first time,” Collyn shared on Instagram. “She seemed to enjoy it.”

The girl was very happy about her birthday surprise. She loved being with her family and friends every day, but knowing they cared about her made her even happier.

“She was trying not to eat the cake right away because I asked her to wait,” Collyn wrote on Instagram. “But what really made her day was having all her favorite people in the room, smiling and clapping just for her.”
Kona wrapped up her seventh birthday with hugs from everyone and a satisfied belly after enjoying her peanut butter cake. Since then, she’s felt incredibly grateful for her wonderful family every single day, and they feel just as fondly about her.

“I couldn’t love her more,” Collyn shared on Instagram.
