What started as a quick family visit turned into an unexpectedly funny encounter for nature photographer Chris Parsons after he discovered an uninvited passenger waiting inside his car.
Parsons had stopped by his father-in-lawβs house and had only been inside for about 10 minutes. When he returned to his vehicle, however, he realized he was no longer alone.
Sitting comfortably in the passenger seat was a cat he had never seen before.
An Unexpected Passenger
The mysterious neighborhood cat had apparently climbed through an open window while Parsons was away.
Parsons said he was completely surprised by the sight, particularly because the animal seemed perfectly comfortable occupying a strangerβs vehicle.
Rather than appearing nervous or confused, the cat simply sat inside and stared back at him as though the car now belonged to him.
The Cat Made Himself Right at Home
Exactly why the feline chose Parsonsβ vehicle remains a mystery.
Perhaps the open window looked inviting, or maybe the cat was simply exploring his neighborhood and decided the passenger seat offered a convenient place to rest.
Whatever the reason, his confident behavior made the encounter even more amusing.
Parsons described the situation as hilarious, especially given how casually the unexpected visitor had taken over the car.
He Left Just as Casually as He Arrived
There was no dramatic attempt to remove the cat.
After spending some time inside, the feline simply climbed back out on his own and continued on his way as though nothing unusual had happened.
For Parsons, the brief encounter became one of the most memorable moments of his day.
A Familiar Face Around the Neighborhood
The surprise visitor has not climbed into Parsonsβ car again, but he has not completely disappeared either.
Parsons said he and his family have spotted the same cat wandering around the neighborhood several times since the incident.
So while the felineβs unexpected car takeover appears to have been a one-time event, Parsons now knows there is at least one particularly confident neighbor nearby who seems to believe that an open car window is an open invitation.
A Small Encounter That Made His Day
Nothing was damaged, nobody was hurt and the cat eventually went on his way.
But the strange little meeting left Parsons with a story he is unlikely to forget.
Sometimes the most memorable visitors are the ones who never bother waiting for an invitation.
