“I was truly astonished.”
As an auto mechanic in El Tigre, Francisco Santella is used to fixing cars with all sorts of mechanical problems.
But one repair job recently brought him a surprise he never expected.
A customer had arrived at Santella’s garage because their vehicle was experiencing engine trouble. While examining the car, Santella noticed something unusual about the front left headlight.
Something Moving Inside
At first, it looked like a normal headlight issue — until Santella saw something moving inside the headlight assembly.
Curious, he and a coworker leaned closer to investigate.
“We noticed something moving inside the headlight assembly, so we went to take a closer look,” Santella said. “I was truly astonished.”
Inside the headlight was a tiny kitten.
A Careful Rescue
Without hesitation, Santella began carefully dismantling the headlight to reach the trapped animal.
The car’s owner had no idea the kitten was there.
Rescuers believe the little stray had likely crawled under the vehicle for shelter and somehow squeezed into an opening behind the headlight — then unknowingly traveled all the way to the mechanic’s shop inside the car.
Fortunately, despite the strange journey, the kitten was unharmed.
“She was in perfect condition,” Santella said.
From Garage To Forever Home
After the rescue, Santella and the other mechanics cared for the kitten at the shop for several days.
Eventually, he found a family willing to adopt her and give her a permanent home.
They named the kitten Paola.
A Lucky Turn Of Fate
Months later, Paola is thriving with her new family.
According to her new owner, she has grown a lot — and become especially close with their child.
“She’s the absolute apple of my daughter’s eye,” Paola’s new dad said.
What began as a routine car repair turned into an unforgettable rescue — proving that sometimes the most surprising passengers are the ones who steal your heart. 🐱🚗
