“It’s not every day that that happens.”

Every morning, Andy Ivan Mills takes his two dogs, Ozzy and Daisy, out for a walk. But last Wednesday was different from the start — not only because it was Mills’ 44th birthday, but because something completely unexpected was about to happen in his driveway.

As Mills and his dogs were getting ready to leave, they suddenly heard quick footsteps behind them. A wild rabbit came racing up the driveway and darted right past the group.

Moments later, Mills realized why the rabbit was running so fast.

A fox was chasing close behind.

The whole scene was captured on Mills’ home security camera. The rabbit sprinted toward Mills and the dogs, and when the fox saw them standing there, she quickly changed her mind and backed off.

Whether the rabbit had planned it or simply got lucky, his escape route worked perfectly. By running toward the dogs, he managed to stop the fox’s chase and get away safely.

Mills was stunned by what he had just witnessed. He wasn’t sure if the rabbit had purposely used Ozzy and Daisy as protection, or if he was just running in panic and happened to choose the right path.

Either way, the rabbit survived. Later, the camera even caught him returning to the area, proving he had made it through the chase.

What started as a normal birthday morning walk turned into a once-in-a-lifetime wildlife moment. Mills never expected to become part of a high-speed chase between a rabbit and a fox, but it certainly made his birthday unforgettable.
