“Go where life takes you …”

When Ben Jenkins traveled to Cairo, Egypt, to visit one of his best friends, he brought along his young puppy, Croissant. As a first-time dog dad, Jenkins didn’t want to spend weeks away from his new best friend — and the trip quickly turned into an unforgettable adventure.

The two explored Cairo together and had an amazing time. But when it came time to head home to New York, everything changed.

A Canceled Flight — And A Shocking Discovery

After their return flight was canceled due to a snowstorm in New York, Jenkins tried to book a new ticket. That’s when he learned something he never expected: puppies under 6 months old are not allowed to enter the U.S., even if they originally came from there.

Croissant was only 4 months old.

That meant Jenkins faced a difficult decision — leave Croissant behind temporarily or stay in Cairo until his puppy was old enough to travel.

There was no real debate.

He stayed.

“Go where life takes you … or traps you,” Jenkins joked on TikTok.

Turning An Unexpected Setback Into An Adventure

Instead of panicking, Jenkins rented a room, informed his company he would work remotely from Cairo until March, and settled into his extended stay abroad.

Soon, what could have been a stressful situation turned into a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Jenkins began sharing updates online, and viewers quickly fell in love with Croissant — and with Jenkins’ relaxed, humorous outlook.

The pair embraced their unexpected chapter, exploring the city and enjoying daily life together.

A Comedian’s Perspective

Jenkins, a comedian by trade, leaned into the absurdity of the situation. Rather than viewing it as a disaster, he treated it as an unexpected plot twist.

“I love my kooky life,” he wrote.

And honestly, that attitude seems to have made all the difference.

What started as a canceled flight became an extended Cairo adventure — proof that sometimes life doesn’t go according to plan, but that doesn’t mean it can’t still be perfect.
