Connor Yildirim has always been aware of his English bulldog, Eastie’s penchant for leisure. However, it wasn’t until recently that he truly grasped the lengths Eastie would go to uphold her commitment to a sedentary lifestyle.
Yildirim couldn’t help but burst into laughter as he watched the footage captured by his Furbo brand pet camera, a trusty tool he relies on to keep an eye on Eastie. What unfolded on the screen was pure comedic gold.
In the video, Eastie meandered around the house until the unmistakable arrival of her dog walker caught her attention. With lightning speed, she darted to her plush dog bed and promptly assumed the role of a soundly sleeping pooch. Even as the dog walker approached and made attempts to coax her for a walk, Eastie remained resolute, refusing to budge an inch.
Upon sharing the Furbo video on TikTok, it swiftly gained traction, striking a chord with viewers who found Eastie’s aversion to exercise hilariously relatable.
“She’s just like me,” quipped one amused commenter.
For Yildirim, Eastie’s crafty maneuver hardly came as a shock.
“She prefers the comfort of indoors. Her bed or the couch is her kingdom,” Yildirim revealed to The Dodo.
While most dogs revel in outdoor escapades, Eastie’s demeanor often mirrors that of a human.
“If you’re lounging around watching TV, she’ll join you, sprawl on her back, and appear as if she’s engrossed in the show alongside you. She even sleeps on her back like a human. She’s more like a person in a dog’s body,” Yildirim chuckled.
Perhaps Eastie’s fondness for relaxation stems from her commitment to intellectual pursuits. Yildirim’s girlfriend converses with Eastie in Portuguese, a language Eastie seemingly comprehends with remarkable ease. Multilingualism, it seems, requires substantial energy, even for a canine connoisseur like Eastie.
