He didnβt have bus fare β but thanks to a compassionate driver, this furry traveler still made it safely aboard.
Last Saturday night in Brisbane, Australia, a bus driver noticed a lone koala darting across a busy road. Luckily, the animal avoided traffic and scrambled up a nearby lamppost to find safety.
Concerned that the koala might climb back down into danger, the driver carefully used a light jacket to cover its head and moved it onto the bus.

Now out of harmβs way, the frightened koala could finally relax. Koala Rescue Brisbane South was alerted and quickly took over, ensuring the little marsupial received proper care.
Named Peri, the koala was checked and given a clean bill of health. The next day, he was safely released into a protected bushland reserve β a much more suitable home for a koala than the roadside where his journey began.

Koala populations are increasingly under threat from habitat loss, often leading them into risky encounters with human infrastructure. In this case, quick thinking and human kindness helped keep Peri safe and secure in his natural environment.
