This week, a routine ferry trip along Brazil’s Amazon River suddenly turned into a rescue that the passengers and crew will likely never forget.
It all started when someone onboard noticed something unusual floating in the distance.
A Dog Stranded On A Floating Tree
At first, it looked like a large fallen tree drifting down the river — a common sight in the Amazon, where dense forest surrounds the water. But as the ferry moved closer, everyone realized this tree was different.
A dog was sitting on top of it, stranded in the middle of the river with no clear way to reach land.
The Crew Jumps Into Action
The crew quickly stepped in to help. Knowing the dog was exhausted and in danger, they worked together to pull her safely from the floating tree and bring her aboard the ferry.
Once she was finally out of the water, the tired dog settled down to rest. Her terrifying experience was over, and a new life was about to begin.
A New Name And A Fresh Start
According to Patrick Nascimento, the crew member who rescued her, the dog has since been named Yara. Even better, she has already been adopted by a loving new owner.
Yara is now doing well, taking her medication and being monitored by a veterinarian as she recovers.

No one knows exactly how Yara ended up stranded on a drifting tree in the middle of the Amazon River. But one thing is clear: if the ferry had not passed by at the right moment, her story could have ended very differently.
Thanks to the quick actions of the ferry crew, Yara is now safe, cared for and getting the second chance she deserves.
