They needed expert help.
An Australian couple got an unexpected shock when loud rattling noises came from above their home. Curious and concerned, they hurried upstairs, looked out a window — and discovered an astonishing sight clinging to their roof.
Pressed against the brick exterior was a wallaroo, a native marsupial rarely seen in such an unusual place.

WIRES Wildlife Rescue explains that wallaroos sit between kangaroos and wallabies in size, sharing characteristics of both animals and often being mistaken for one or the other.
Unsure how to help the stranded animal, the homeowners reached out to WIRES, who dispatched a volunteer rescuer named Inga.
Upon arriving, Inga joined the couple upstairs and found the wallaroo calmly perched on the roof, appearing completely unbothered by the situation.
“He was just resting there, taking in the surroundings,” Inga told The Dodo. “He seemed surprisingly relaxed.”

After assessing the property, Inga identified the safest spot for the animal to descend — an area just above the patio. Keeping a respectful distance so as not to startle him, she gently guided the wallaroo toward the edge.
Moments later, the marsupial made the leap on his own, landing safely and without injury before hopping away.
“By the time I reached the road, he was already disappearing into a nearby bush corridor,” Inga said.
Inga hopes this incident reminds people to seek professional help when wildlife ends up in tricky situations. In this case, she was simply relieved the wallaroo returned safely to its natural habitat.
“It was a huge relief,” she said.
