The banana changed everything for her.
When CC first arrived at The Big House Sanctuary and Rehab, she weighed a shocking 23 pounds — far more than was healthy for a cat her size.
And that wasn’t her only challenge.
More Than Just Extra Weight
CC was also living with a neurological condition that made her wobble when she walked.
That meant:
- Exercise was harder
- Movement was less stable
- Weight loss would take extra patience
But despite everything, her personality surprised everyone.
“She was the most loving, sweetest cat,” said caregiver Kristine Seguin.
A Plan — And A Problem
The team created a weight-loss plan that included:
- Controlled feeding
- Encouraging movement and play
But there was one issue…
CC wasn’t interested in playing at all.
The Banana That Changed Everything 🍌
Then they introduced something simple:
A catnip banana toy.
And suddenly — everything changed.
CC became:
- Curious
- Energetic
- Playful
She couldn’t get enough of her banana toys, and for the first time, she was moving willingly.
Small Steps, Big Progress
As CC began to play more:
- She started losing weight
- Her mobility improved
- Her confidence skyrocketed
“Every step made her stronger,” Seguin said.
The team also adjusted her diet to support her progress and keep her on track.
A Whole New Cat
So far, CC has lost about 6 pounds — and she’s still going.
But the biggest change isn’t just physical.
She’s now:
- Adventurous
- Engaged
- Full of life
