A Beach Nap Like No Other
On a sunny South Florida beach, Alysha and her brother were relaxing in the sand, napping and soaking up the sunshine. When they finally opened their eyes, they were met with an incredible sight: dozens of tiny wild babies scuttling across the sand.
A Surprise Hatch
The siblings had unknowingly set up camp near a nest of sea turtle eggs. While they slept, the baby turtles hatched and began making their journey to the water. Alysha and her brother carefully moved their belongings out of the way and watched in awe.
“I never thought in a million years we’d wake up from this afternoon beach nap to a swarm of baby sea turtles,” Alysha wrote on TikTok.
Letting Nature Take Its Course
The sea turtle nest had been roped off, but the hatchlings’ path to the water was open. Thankfully, nearby beachgoers understood the task: help the babies reach the ocean safely without touching them.
“I know it’s very important not to touch the turtles, hence why we stayed still and tried to remove obstacles as best we could, while also in a state of total shock,” Alysha explained.
A Safe Journey to the Sea
Once all the baby turtles had passed the beachgoers, everyone stepped back to watch as the little hatchlings completed their trek and were carried away by the waves.
“It was so special to be able to see them make their way to the water, and once it was safe to move, we watched them ALL make it,” Alysha said. “And with no bird interference!”
A Perfect Ending
Every single baby turtle that began the journey made it safely to the ocean. The beach collectively breathed a sigh of relief, having witnessed a rare and magical moment of nature in action.
