He couldn’t believe it.
While working near St. Louis, Missouri, an AT&T technician recently spotted something that stopped him in his tracks โ a frightened dog chained outside a boarded-up, abandoned house. Hidden among tall weeds, the terrified pup stared back at him, silently pleading for help.
Without hesitation, the worker called Stray Rescue of St. Louis, and rescuer Donna Lochmann quickly arrived on the scene.

โHe stuck his lil tongue out and gave the tiniest tail wag,โ a shelter representative told The Dodo. โHe didnโt have a single bark in him โ he just wanted to be helped.โ
Lochmannโs heart broke as she saw the dogโs condition. โThis young babe was all by himself โ scared, worried, hungry,โ the representative said.

She gently freed the pup and brought him to safety. Back at the shelter, the team named him Chimpi. For the first time in what may have been weeks, Chimpi could finally rest.
โHe’s such a sweet and friendly lil guy,โ the representative shared. โHis favorite activity is cuddling. He hasnโt started playing yet, but once he knows heโs truly safe, we know his personality will blossom.โ

Now in a loving foster home, Chimpi is recovering both physically and emotionally. Soon, heโll be neutered and made available for adoption.
โHeโs been friendly with all people and dogs,โ the shelter said. โJust about any home will be a good one for him.โ
Thanks to one observant worker and a rescue team that never hesitates to help, Chimpiโs story has turned from heartbreak to hope โ and his future is shining bright.
