He couldn’t believe it.
While working near St. Louis, Missouri, an AT&T technician recently spotted something that stopped him in his tracks β a frightened dog chained outside a boarded-up, abandoned house. Hidden among tall weeds, the terrified pup stared back at him, silently pleading for help.
Without hesitation, the worker called Stray Rescue of St. Louis, and rescuer Donna Lochmann quickly arrived on the scene.

βHe stuck his lil tongue out and gave the tiniest tail wag,β a shelter representative told The Dodo. βHe didnβt have a single bark in him β he just wanted to be helped.β
Lochmannβs heart broke as she saw the dogβs condition. βThis young babe was all by himself β scared, worried, hungry,β the representative said.

She gently freed the pup and brought him to safety. Back at the shelter, the team named him Chimpi. For the first time in what may have been weeks, Chimpi could finally rest.
βHe’s such a sweet and friendly lil guy,β the representative shared. βHis favorite activity is cuddling. He hasnβt started playing yet, but once he knows heβs truly safe, we know his personality will blossom.β

Now in a loving foster home, Chimpi is recovering both physically and emotionally. Soon, heβll be neutered and made available for adoption.
βHeβs been friendly with all people and dogs,β the shelter said. βJust about any home will be a good one for him.β
Thanks to one observant worker and a rescue team that never hesitates to help, Chimpiβs story has turned from heartbreak to hope β and his future is shining bright.
