They couldn’t believe it 😳

In Currumbin Valley, Australia, a car owner was shocked to find a coastal carpet python had slipped into their vehicle’s engine. These pythons, which can weigh up to 22 pounds, are among the largest snakes on Southern Queensland’s coast. Concerned for both the snake’s safety and potential engine damage, the car owner contacted WIRES Wildlife Rescue for help.

WIRES emergency responder Amy arrived promptly and located the snake inside the engine. Fortunately, it had found a spot near the top, making it easier to remove. Amy carefully secured the snake and gently coaxed it to move with a technique she had learned through training. The python was unharmed, its scales intact and in excellent condition despite its unusual resting place.

After the rescue, Amy released the snake back into a natural area, where it quickly slithered away into the bush. β€œIt’s always a happy moment when an animal gets a second chance in the wild,” Amy said, noting how rewarding it was to see the snake safely return to its home.

This rescue serves as a reminder of the importance of wildlife rescue and the need for people to be aware of where animals might seek shelter. With a quick response and care, Amy ensured the python was safe and back in its natural habitat.
