“I’m gonna hold onto her for a little bit.”
While driving down a rural road, truck driver and TikTok user Triune Blades noticed something small dart across the road into the nearby grass. Instinctively, he slammed on the brakes, pulled over, and got out to check. To his surprise, a tiny kitten emerged, meowing loudly for help.
The kitten, later named Cali, immediately walked up to Blades and jumped into his arms. He searched the area but found no signs of a mother cat or other kittens nearby, and there were no farms in the immediate vicinity. Blades later shared in a TikTok video that there were no farms for miles in either direction, leaving him puzzled about how Cali ended up there.
Despite the confusion, Blades knew he couldn’t just leave the kitten alone. He decided to take her with him, hoping to find her home along the way. As they made their way into his truck, Cali, still meowing and seeking comfort, climbed up onto Blades’ shoulder and settled there. After a bit of exploring, she eventually fell asleep in his backpack, tired from the excitement.
Not knowing where Cali came from, Blades chose to take her home. His family already had another calico cat, so he hoped Cali would fit in well. It didn’t take long for Cali to become a beloved member of the family, enjoying snuggles with her new humans and her new dog buddy, Chester.
Blades shared on TikTok, “Cali is loving the snuggles with her new humans AND her new pupper buddy, Chester. She’s fit in perfectly already. We all love her so much.” Cali found a forever home full of love and warmth thanks to a truck driver’s quick thinking and kind heart.
