Last month, Long Island wildlife rehabilitator Karenlynn Stracher received a distressing call. Anthony, a manager at a local Ace Hardware warehouse, had found a baby squirrel near the building all alone. Anthony told Stracher that heβd looked everywhere for the squirrelβs family, but he couldnβt find them.
Anthony arranged for the baby to be transported to Stracherβs rehab. Stracher told Anthony to keep looking β she knew that thereβs rarely just one orphaned squirrel. It was very likely his family was nearby.

Newly energized, Anthony continued his search. Lo and behold, he eventually looked up into an air vent and saw three worried faces peeking out. The squirrelβs siblings hadnβt forgotten about their brother after all.
Thrilled, Anthony contacted Stracher.βYou were right!β Anthony excitedly said in a video Stracher took at the scene. βYou said thereβd be more!βStracher took the babies back to her rehab, where they could grow safely. As soon as the babies noticed their brother, they immediately piled on top of him, so happy to see each other.Stracher was delighted to see the family together again.
βIt was a joyous reunion for these five beautiful babies!β she told us.
