A group of workers in a scrap yard were sorting through a new pile of metal when they saw something that didn’t look like it belonged. They took a closer look and discovered a tiny kitten hidden among the scrap, trying to crawl away from the pile.
The poor kitten was filthy and lethargic when he was found. His eyes were barely open, and his rescuers assumed he was pretty young. There’s no way of knowing exactly where he came from, but he was definitely found just in time.
“The kitten is extremely, extremely lucky because not only did it come in a load of scrap that got dumped out onto the ground, but it also got moved around with heavy machinery,” TikTok user @michaels_scrap_life said in a video.
One of the workers had experience with kittens and volunteered to take the baby home, and everyone was thrilled the kitten had somewhere to go.
“It’s an unfortunate situation, but it’s the best circumstances compared to what could have happened,” @michaels_scrap_life said.
After the worker took the kitten home, he got in touch with a friend, who happened to have a cat who just had a litter of kittens. The worker took the scrap yard kitten to the new mom and put him in with her babies — and she quickly decided to accept the little orphan as one of her own.
The mama cat cleaned her new kitten and began caring for him expertly. The kitten will stay with his adoptive family until he’s old enough to find a home, and then the worker will make sure he finds a loving forever family.
Everyone at the scrap yard is a cat lover, and while they were sad the kitten couldn’t stay with them at the yard, they’re all so relieved he’s being cared for the way he deserves.
