“I felt an overwhelming urge to act.”
A Peaceful Walk Turns Urgent
Earlier this week, Aykut Balli and his wife were taking their usual evening walk by the seaside near their home in Turkey.
It was a familiar routine for them. Children were playing on the beach, the waves were moving gently, and everything seemed normal β until Balliβs wife noticed something strange floating in the water.
At first, it was difficult to understand what she was seeing. Then they realized it was a tiny kitten struggling in the sea.
A Kitten In The Waves
The sight immediately alarmed Balli. The little animal was helpless in the water, and every second mattered.
He had not planned on going swimming that evening, but there was no time to think about his clothes, the temperature or anything else.
To Balli, the kitten looked like a small life in desperate need of saving.
Jumping In Without Hesitation
Without a second thought, Balli rushed into the water and swam toward the kitten.
He carefully pulled the frightened animal from the waves and brought her safely back to shore. For him, the decision was simple: the kitten was alive, scared and in danger β and he could not ignore that.
Warm And Safe Again
Once they were back on land, Balli wrapped the kitten in his towel and gently dried her off.
Then he placed her in his car and used the heater to help warm her after the frightening experience. Slowly, the kitten began to recover.
After making sure she was stable, Balli was able to find her worried mother and reunite them.
Checking On Her The Next Morning
Balli did not forget about the kitten after the rescue.
The next morning, he returned with food and checked on her condition. Thankfully, the little kitten was doing well after her scary time in the water.
A Bigger Plan To Help
Saving the kitten was only the beginning.
Balli and others are now working on a plan to help the cats in the area by giving them a safer place to live.
Thanks to his quick reaction, one tiny kitten survived a terrifying accident β and now she and her furry friends may soon have a home of their own.
