β€œHe is definitely smart as a whip!”

Buckwheat may get dinner at home, but this clever pup has never believed one meal should be the limit.

A few years ago, Buckwheat’s mom, Stephanie, moved with her husband into a house right next door to his parents. Not long after, she noticed Buckwheat doing something unusual after mealtime.

Once he finished eating, he would pick up his empty bowl and carry it outside.

Curious, Stephanie watched as he headed up the path toward her in-laws’ house. After seeing him do it several times, she decided to follow him and find out what was going on.

That’s when she discovered Buckwheat’s secret routine.

He was bringing his bowl next door to ask for another helping.

And it worked.

Whenever Buckwheat arrived with his bowl, Stephanie’s in-laws would give him a second dinner. Her mother-in-law especially loved spoiling him and happily took part in the sweet little tradition.

Sadly, Stephanie’s mother-in-law recently passed away, but the routine has continued. Stephanie’s father-in-law still makes sure Buckwheat gets his extra serving whenever he shows up with his bowl.

Funny enough, there is already a bowl waiting for Buckwheat at the in-laws’ house. But he still insists on carrying one over himself. After eating, he brings a bowl back home again, as if completing an important job.

Buckwheat gets plenty of exercise, though his extra dinners have added a little roundness to his figure. Still, his family can’t help but admire his determination.

He knows exactly where to go, what to bring and how to get what he wants.

For Buckwheat, second dinner isn’t luck β€” it’s a carefully planned routine.
