A funny photograph of a puzzled-looking gannet has won the public vote in the Nikon Comedy Wildlife Awards.
The image, titled βNow where is my nest?β, was taken by photographer Alison Tuck. It earned her the Sterna Peopleβs Choice Award, beating 40 other shortlisted entries chosen for the online vote.
The Peopleβs Choice Award is decided entirely by voters, making it one of the competitionβs most popular categories.
Alison said the win meant a great deal to her. She explained that reaching the finals with her gannet photograph had already been exciting, and receiving a Highly Commended recognition was an honour. Winning the public-voted category, she added, was especially meaningful, and she thanked everyone who supported her image.
The winning photo was taken on a blustery day at Bempton Cliffs in Yorkshire. At the time, seabirds were busy gathering nesting material, creating a perfectly timed comic scene.
Alison is a UK-based wildlife photographer who first displayed her work when she was just 15 years old. Since then, she has become known for photographing a wide variety of wildlife, from small insects to large mammals.
Her prize package includes a photography bag and a fine art print of her winning image.
The 2026 Nikon Comedy Wildlife Awards are now accepting entries for both photos and videos until June 30. The competition is free to enter, open to people around the world, and accepts work taken with any camera brand.
There are several categories and prizes available, including a week-long safari in the Masai Mara with Alex Walkerβs Serian for the overall winner.
