An Unexpected Moment on a Texas Back Road
While driving along a wooded road in Texas recently, the father of TikTok user @Thebeandips encountered something he never expected to see. The quiet drive home took a sudden turn when he noticed several animals crossing the road ahead of him.
“They turned and crossed the road about 50 feet in front of me,” he told The Dodo. “That’s when I realized they were raccoons.”
One Raccoon Stood Out
As the group of raccoons scattered, a few climbed into a nearby tree. That’s when he noticed something unusual — one raccoon looked completely different from the others.
Curious, he slowed his car to a stop and looked up.
A Rare Albino Sighting
Perched high in the tree was a pure white raccoon, believed to be albino — an extraordinarily rare sight in the wild. Albinism is estimated to occur in only one out of every 10,000 to 20,000 raccoons, and the odds of spotting one in nature are even slimmer, at roughly one in 750,000.
A Moment of Eye Contact
Before continuing on its way, the raccoon paused and locked eyes with him.
“The entire encounter was incredible, but the eye contact was intense,” he said.
