Three-Legged Puppy Rescued From Jungle Construction Site Finds Her Forever Home in Spain

Earlier this year, the Thai animal rescue group Happy Doggo received an urgent plea for help: a tiny puppy had been spotted wandering near a construction site deep in the jungle β€” and site workers were preparing to get rid of her, no matter the cost.

When the rescue team arrived, they found the frightened pup hiding beneath a bush, trembling and refusing to come out.

β€œShe bolted under a sheet of metal to get away from us,” recalled Niall Harbison, founder of Happy Doggo, in a video shared with The Dodo.

As rescuers carefully coaxed her into safety, they noticed something heartbreaking β€” the puppy only had three legs. It was unclear whether she’d been born that way or lost the limb due to an injury, but the discovery strengthened their resolve to save her.

Despite her fear, the moment Harbison finally lifted her into his arms, the little dog began to soften. β€œShe’s incredibly nervous,” he said, β€œbut she likes being held.”

The team named her Candy, inspired by her gentle, sweet nature. After receiving veterinary care and plenty of affection from the Happy Doggo staff, Candy slowly started to heal β€” both physically and emotionally.

Within weeks, the once-terrified stray had blossomed into a joyful, affectionate pup who loved cuddles and playtime. β€œShe soon flourished into the most loving and playful dog,” Harbison shared on Instagram.

Six months later, Candy’s journey came full circle when a family in Spain adopted her. Her new life is filled with beach trips, park adventures, and endless energy β€” Candy races around so fast that she often leaves her dog brother, Fletcher, in the dust.

β€œShe’s an absolute speed demon β€” a little turbo rocket!” Harbison joked.

After all the hardship she endured, Candy now falls asleep each night safe, loved, and content β€” finally living the life every dog deserves.
